Travels connecting the path of our ancestors to beautiful travel destinations, historical places and events, culture and old world foods. My mission is to share how fun history can be, learning about our ancestors, becoming aware of the importance of connecting ourselves with family, and encouraging others to honour our ancestors by preserving traditions, reflecting on each experience and how far they travelled for a better life.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”  ~ Mark Twain

FOLLOWING THE PATHS OF OUR ANCESTORS

Celebrating the past by connecting to it!

Following The Path Of Our Ancestors to beautiful travel destinations, historical places and events, culture and old world foods. I have been fortunate to link up with others along the way sharing how fun history can be, learning about our ancestors, and having become more aware of the importance of connecting ourselves with family. I hope to encourage others to join me in honouring our ancestors,  preserving traditions and knowledge, reflecting on their experiences and how far they travelled for a better life. I believe it is important to learn how their lives and their deaths impacted how we came to be, and to be inspired by their incredible stories and the lives they lived!

Having lived an expat life for over 20 years, travelling to various places throughout North America, Central America, Africa and Europe ... I most enjoy exploring pretty little villages with cobblestone streets and Saturday markets, abandoned buildings and stunning landscapes  where I can create unique photo art. The different cultures, world foods and testing my skills at speaking different languages, once spoken by my ancestors. Researching and building my family tree and the stories to treasure and pass on for generations to come... has become an incredible journey of self discovery for both me and my son Jack.

Researching my family tree is an ongoing journey, where my interest in world history continues expand in various directions with the gift of endless experiences and stories to learn.  It has put an entirely new twist on my travels, and the destinations I choose. The pieces of information I learn, pushes me to dig deeper every time. When I took my DNA test with 23andme, connecting to hundreds of cousins all over the globe and the invaluable information of where my ancestors originally came from, was the beginnings of my perfect road map...never looking back ...always looking forward to the next exciting experience and adventure!
